Issue verifiable certificates for university programs, events, and microcredentials
Issue verifiable certificates for courses, conferences, workshops, student activities, and microcredentials. Design a template, import a cohort, handle late requests and corrections, and give every student a public page they can keep.
A university issues certificates across departments: course completions, conferences, workshops, student activities, and microcredentials. Each program has its own list, branding, and follow-up. Verifycate gives them one workflow for designing the certificate, importing the cohort, handling late names and corrections, and publishing a verifiable page students can keep.
Create a workspace for the institution or program, then create a certificate and Template for each award type. Import the registrar, LMS, or event list, map names and program details to Attributes, and publish. Students get a public page with a QR code, Open Badge 3.0 credential, and PNG or PDF download. Pro adds custom email senders, SSO, SCIM, audit logs, and other workspace controls.
What you can do
Take care of more than the certificate design
- Design once, reuse across programs: Build a Template with university and program branding, start from a blank canvas, bring a Canva design in as the background, or generate an AI draft.
- Import cohorts from your existing records: Upload a CSV or Excel export from the registrar, LMS, or event system, map columns to names, emails, and program details, and review the list before publishing.
- Certificates students can keep and verify: Every certificate gets a public page, QR code, Open Badge 3.0 credential, and PNG or PDF download. Recipients can add it to LinkedIn and share the link.
- Handle late names and corrections: Share the Issue Request Form when a graduate or attendee is missing from the list. Recipients can use the Correction Form for a name or program detail change, with automatic or reviewed application.
- Collect feedback before release: Use an Unlock Form to ask for feedback, a testimonial, a project link, or a file before the certificate is released, and review responses in Unlock Responses.
- See delivery and engagement: Track email delivery health, certificate page views, downloads, shares, LinkedIn adds, and verification activity from the workspace dashboard.
The workflow
A simple closeout process
- 01
Prepare the award
Create a certificate for each program, course, or event award and design its Template with the university and program branding.
- 02
Import the cohort
Upload the registrar, LMS, or event list, map names, emails, and program details, and review the recipients before publishing.
- 03
Publish and verify
Publish to issue and email certificates. Students receive a public page, QR code, and downloadable copy they can keep after the program ends.
Related workflows
Handle the work around the certificate
Issue Request Form
Share Verifycate's Issue Request Form after an event. Applicants confirm their email and submit details; you choose whether requests are issued automatically or reviewed first.
Explore workflowCorrection Form
Let recipients submit changes through the Correction Form on their certificate page. Choose automatic application or review each request in Correction Requests.
Explore workflowUnlock Form
Use an Unlock Form to ask recipients for feedback, testimonials, project links, or files before releasing their event certificate.
Explore workflowCustom Email Senders
Choose how certificate email is sent and who it comes from: the shared Verifycate sender, your own verified domain, a connected provider such as Resend, Amazon SES, Postmark, SendGrid, Mailgun, or Cloudflare, or raw SMTP.
Explore workflowSecurity and access controls
Put staff access behind the university identity provider
Students do not need accounts, but staff access should follow the university's own identity and access policy. On Pro, Verifycate supports institutional SSO, directory provisioning, and an audit trail for sensitive changes.
SSO with OIDC or SAML 2.0
Faculty and staff sign in through the university's identity provider, including Okta, Microsoft Entra ID, or Google Workspace. Verify university domains and enforce SSO so access follows central MFA and sign-in policy.
SCIM provisioning
Provision and deprovision staff from the university directory, and map directory groups to admin, manager, issuer, or support roles. When someone leaves, deactivation revokes their sessions immediately. SCIM works independently of SSO.
Audit logs
Keep an append-only record of membership and role changes, certificate and recipient activity, API keys, webhooks, SSO/SCIM changes, and Verifycate Admin actions. Filter the trail and export it as CSV for internal review.
Roles and tenant isolation
Workspace roles keep administrative, issuing, and support work separate. Each workspace's certificates and recipient data stay isolated from other institutions and programs.
Custom email sender
Set the sender name, reply-to, CC, and BCC. On Pro, send from a verified university domain, a connected provider, or SMTP, with credentials encrypted at rest.

Read the guideCommon questions
- Can we use our own certificate design?
- Yes. Use the Template editor, bring a Canva design in as the background, or start from an AI-generated draft. Add university and program branding, a QR code, and recipient Attributes before issuing.
- Can we import a cohort from our registrar or LMS?
- Yes. Upload a CSV or Excel export, map columns to recipient name, email, and program details, and review the list before publishing. There are no native LMS connectors today; the API covers custom integrations.
- Do students need a Verifycate account?
- No. Students receive a certificate link or private form link and can open their certificate page without creating an account. Public verification is anonymous.
- Can students request a missing certificate or a correction?
- Yes. Share the Issue Request Form for missing names, and recipients can use the Correction Form for a name or program detail change. Choose automatic application or review each request first.
- Can we collect feedback before releasing a certificate?
- Yes. Enable an Unlock Form to ask for feedback, a testimonial, a project link, or a file before release. Choose automatic release or review responses in Unlock Responses.
- Can we see delivery and engagement?
- Yes. The workspace dashboard tracks email delivery health, certificate page views, downloads, shares, LinkedIn adds, and verification activity, with certificate-level detail.
- Can we send from a university address or domain?
- Yes, on Pro. Customize the sender name, reply-to, CC, and BCC, then send from a verified university domain, a connected provider, or SMTP. Provider credentials are encrypted at rest.
- Do you support university SSO, SCIM, and audit logs?
- Yes, on Pro. Staff can sign in through OpenID Connect or SAML 2.0, be provisioned from the directory with SCIM 2.0, and appear in an append-only audit log. Verifycate is not SOC 2 certified today; we support DPAs and security questionnaires.
