Certificate platform alternatives

Verifycate vs Virtualbadge.io

Verifycate as an alternative to Virtualbadge.io — published pricing for 1,000 certificates a year, what each platform is good at, and which one fits your event.

What Virtualbadge.io is

A German no-code platform for certificates and badges "built to be verified" — cryptographically signed credentials, W3C Verifiable Credentials, and approval for regulated digital issuance in Germany. It's strongest for training providers who run in-person sessions: QR attendance, forms, surveys, and wallet cards.

Virtualbadge.io's flagship features

  • Copy-proof certificates — cryptographically signed credentials, tamper-evident to verify by QR code or a validation page hosted on your own domain.
  • Apple and Google Wallet cards — recipients carry the credential on their phone, available on the Plus plan and up.
  • QR forms, surveys, and attendance — digital attendance lists, feedback surveys, and certificate requests by QR code for in-person training.
  • Organisation Hub — central control with decentralised issuance across multiple locations, issuers, or franchises.
  • Social sharing — LinkedIn badges, one-click shares to LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, and X, with pre-written posts.

Where Virtualbadge.io leads

They do some things we don't, and pretending otherwise wouldn't help you decide. These are the capabilities we can't match — if any of them is the point for you, pick them.

  • Apple and Google Wallet passes. We don't do wallet cards.
  • Approval for regulated digital issuance in Germany — language certificates, first aid, aviation security. That's a trust signal we don't hold.
  • A built-in attendance, forms, and surveys module for in-person training sessions.
  • The Organisation Hub for managing issuance across multiple sites or issuers.
  • W3C Verifiable Credentials alongside Open Badges.

Why teams choose Verifycate

  • The Growth plan tops out at 500 credentials a year; a campus fest routinely needs several thousand in one afternoon.
  • Bulk import from CSV or Excel, map columns once, and send the whole list in one click.
  • Recipients add the certificate to LinkedIn Licences & certifications from the email or the public page.
  • Corrections are handled by the recipient, not by your inbox.

Pick Virtualbadge.io if

Wallet-based badges, regulated issuance in Germany, or an in-person training module matter more to you than per-event cost.

Common questions

How much does Virtualbadge.io cost?
There's no free tier — just a 7-day trial. On yearly billing, Lite starts around $26/month for 300 certificates a year, Growth $49/month, and Plus $75/month. SSO, public-key encryption, and white-label pages are Enterprise-only.
Virtualbadge.io or Verifycate for a campus fest?
Volume is the difference. Virtualbadge's Growth plan tops out at 500 credentials a year and even Plus at $900 can't beat Verifycate's $54 a year for 1,200 credits. If wallet cards matter to you, that's a real Virtualbadge advantage we don't match.
What are Virtualbadge.io's QR forms?
They're attendance and feedback tools for in-person training — participants scan a QR, sign in or answer a survey. Verifycate's equivalent is different: Certificate Requests let recipients ask for their certificate, and Unlock Forms gate the certificate behind a form.

Send the certificates tonight.

Every certificate gets a QR code and a public page anyone can verify. Pro is $54 a year with credits that never expire — and the first 300 certificates are free, no card.

Worth knowing: Unlock Forms aren't for collecting names you never had — Certificate Request links do that. Unlock Forms do the opposite job: after the event, each recipient gets a private link and completes your feedback form or leaves a testimonial before their certificate is released.
