ImprovedVerificationNo. 068

See the proof behind a certificate

The public certificate page now opens a verification dialog with the signed credential, issuer, and Open Badge 3.0 proof details.

By Ashwin Shenoy · Founder and engineer

A public page tells a viewer what the certificate says. It should also show why the page can be trusted.

The verification details now open in a dialog on the certificate page. It shows the signed Open Badge 3.0 credential, the issuer, and the signature information behind the page. For an anchored certificate, it also reports the anchor channels and their confirmation state.

The dialog explains what the signature proves and what the public page adds, instead of treating the QR code as the proof. Most verification pages ask the viewer to trust the page itself. This one shows the underlying record.
