See opens and clicks alongside delivery

Certificate analytics now separates delivered, opened, clicked, and viewed activity, so a delivered email that nobody opened is visible as its own problem.

By Ashwin Shenoy · Founder and engineer

"Delivered" is the least interesting number in certificate email. It means the receiving server accepted the message, not that the recipient saw it, opened it, or clicked through to the certificate.

Engagement now sits next to delivery.

What is measured

Email opens, link clicks, certificate page views, downloads, and LinkedIn adds. The funnel shows where the drop-off happens: delivered but not opened, opened but not viewed, viewed but not engaged. The recipient list can be filtered by the same states.

Open the certificate's Analytics tab and look at the engagement section. The workspace dashboard rolls the same activity up across certificates.

What opens can and cannot tell you

Opens are approximate. Mail clients block tracking pixels, privacy features prefetch images, and a corporate scanner can open a message before a person does. Treat opens as a signal, not a headcount.

Clicks and page views are stronger because they require an action. A low open rate with a normal click rate may be a tracking artefact; a high open rate with no views usually means the message is not giving people a reason to continue.

Where it changes the next action

A delivered-but-unopened group is a subject-line or timing problem. An opened-but-unviewed group is a message or link problem. A viewed-but-not-downloaded group may be a certificate page or design problem. The funnel points at the right one.
