Choose which details a correction can change
Limit the Correction Form to the fields recipients should be able to fix — usually name and college — while keeping the award and issue date fixed.
A correction form that can change anything is a form that can change the award. The common request is a misspelt name or a wrong college; the uncommon request is a change that should never be allowed.
The Correction Form now lets you choose which fields a recipient may request.
How the control works
In the correction form setup, select the certificate details that are open to correction. The public form only shows those fields. If the award, issue date, or certificate type is not selected, a recipient cannot ask for it.
The same setup chooses whether a correction is applied automatically or reviewed first. Apply Automatically is useful for spelling and formatting. Review Before Applying is safer when a change could affect the meaning of the certificate.
The practical split
Open the fields recipients genuinely own: their name, the spelling of their institution, a graduation year, a team or role that came from their own submission. Keep the fields the issuer controls: the award, the completion date, the certificate type, and the programme name.
A student can fix their name before sharing the certificate. A volunteer can correct the college name. A training provider can keep the completion date off-limits while still allowing a cohort or instructor correction.
The boundary
An approved correction changes the existing certificate and public page permanently. It keeps the certificate ID and URL, and it does not spend a credit. If the design itself changed, that is a reissue, not a correction.
The Correction Form is a Pro feature.
