Certificate operations for training providers
Run programme and cohort certificates with expiry, reissue, your own branding, LMS triggers, and a public page learners can keep and verify.
On this page
A training provider sells a programme, not a certificate. But the certificate is what the learner keeps, and it carries the provider’s name into a CV, a LinkedIn profile, or a compliance file.
Verifycate treats the programme as the reusable unit: one design, one email, one mapping, with cohort and completion details as fields. Expiry, renewal, branding, and access sit around that core.
This page covers what changes for a provider, the old stack, the programmes it covers, the controls, and the rollout.
Repeating cohorts is the operating model
The first cohort is a design project. By the tenth, the work is operational: the same programme, a new list, a new set of dates. Rebuilding the template, email, and mapping each time is recurring overhead.
The provider’s certificate operation needs four things to stay stable: the programme record, the design, the delivery identity, and the renewal rule. Everything else changes by cohort.
What changes for the team
| Outcome | What changes |
|---|---|
| Cohort setup time | Reuse the Template, email, and recipient mapping. |
| Brand consistency | The certificate and public page carry the provider’s identity, not a generic platform. |
| Renewal control | Expiry dates and status live on the record. |
| Design updates | Template versions show who needs a reissue, and who does not. |
| Correction load | Learners fix names themselves; the provider approves once. |
| Alumni access | Pages stay available after the programme and after a paid plan ends. |
The capability map
| Need | Capability | Result |
|---|---|---|
| Programme and cohort records | Attributes for programme, cohort, dates, modules, and expiry | One Template per programme |
| Issue from an LMS or list | Canvas LTI 1.3, WordPress LMS plugin, CSV, API, webhooks | Completion or list-based issue |
| Branded delivery | Custom domain and email sender on Pro | Certificate pages and email that match the provider |
| Renewal | Expiry date, extension, and status | A record that reflects validity |
| Design changes | Template versions and targeted reissue | No full-cohort reissue |
| Name fixes | Correction Form | Same record, no extra credit |
What you can issue
- Training certificates — programme completion and cohorts.
- Course certificates — course completion and LMS triggers.
- Bootcamp certificates — capstones and demo days.
- Workshop certificates — attendance and completion.
- Corporate training certificates — compliance and renewal.
Scale and roles
- Brand. Your design, logo, and on Pro a custom domain and email sender.
- Access. Workspace roles for programme managers and coordinators.
- Automation. Canvas, WordPress LMS, API, webhooks, or Zapier.
- Expiry. Set validity at issue and extend it on renewal.
- Credits. One per certificate issue; corrections do not spend a credit.
Getting started
- One programme. Standardise the record and design for a single programme.
- Two cohorts. Prove the reuse: same Template, different list and dates.
- The catalogue. Add programmes without rebuilding the operation.
The second cohort is the test. If the team is still redesigning the certificate, the system is not saving the work it should.
Before Verifycate
| Old approach | Friction | With Verifycate |
|---|---|---|
| A design file per cohort | The programme never feels finished | Reusable Template with cohort Attributes |
| A renewal spreadsheet | Disconnected from the certificate | Expiry on the record |
| PDFs sent to learners | Hard to verify; lost after the programme | Public page and QR code |
| A full reissue after a design change | Cost and duplicate pages | Template versions and targeted reissue |
| Support inbox for name fixes | The provider reissues files | Correction Form on the same record |
For the cohort workflow, see how to prepare an attendee spreadsheet.
Common questions
- Can we use our own branding and domain?
- Yes. Use your design and logo, and on Pro a custom domain and email sender through your own domain, provider, or SMTP.
- What happens when we update a programme?
- Template versions show which learners hold an earlier design. Reissue only the affected cohort.
- Do you support expiring certificates?
- Yes. Set an expiry date at issue and extend it on renewal. The public page reports validity.
- Is there an integration with our LMS?
- Canvas through LTI 1.3, and LearnDash, Tutor LMS, LearnPress, LifterLMS, and Sensei through the WordPress plugin. For others, use the API, webhooks, or a CSV export.
