University certificates for programmes and departments

Issue certificates for university courses, workshops, seminars, and co-curricular programmes — with department identity, cohort lists, and verification.

On this page

A university issues certificates at two levels: the institution’s credential for a programme, and the department’s certificate for a workshop, seminar, or co-curricular activity. The second is more frequent, and it usually runs on a spreadsheet.

Verifycate gives the department its own recipient list and design while keeping the institution’s identity and access controls. The same Template can carry the department and programme as fields across cohorts.

This page covers the platform pieces, what they replace, the options for a department, and the outcomes it can report.

The department runs its own cohort

A department knows its programme, signatory, and list. What it usually lacks is a repeatable way to issue certificates without asking central IT for a portal project.

The practical unit is the programme or activity, not the university. Create a certificate per cohort or event, keep the department and programme as Attributes, and let the department own the recipient list.

What you can change

  • One programme or several. Separate certificates per programme, or one design with department and cohort Attributes.
  • Completion claim. Completed, attended, or presented, matching the evidence the department holds.
  • Identity. Use the institution’s approved Template and signatory block.
  • Correction fields. Allow names and roll numbers; require review for grades or awards.
  • Credits. One per certificate issue; corrections do not spend a credit.

Fit and requirements

Course completion, workshops, seminars, symposiums, student club activities, and faculty development. The department can start with one programme and reuse the Template for the next cohort.

Common questions

Can different departments use the same design?
Yes. Use a shared Template and put department, programme, and cohort in Attributes.
Can students request a name correction?
Yes. The Correction Form lets a student request a change; the department approves it and the same certificate and page update.
Do you integrate with our student information system?
No. Verifycate is not a SIS or LMS. Import a CSV or Excel export, or use the API and webhooks.
Do you support institutional SSO?
Yes, on Pro: OIDC and SAML 2.0, with SCIM provisioning and audit logs.
